Default Cymbidium Maureen Carter ‘Dafon’(大凤)

Cym. Maureen Carter ‘Dafon’(大凤) is a cross between a chinese cymbidium and a standard one. This one still remains compact and still retains the asian charm, while the bloom size is increased. 'Dafon' translates to big pheonix in chinese.

It was my first cymbidium and had gone through a lot including being a virus suspect (as a newbie) and pushed aside when it was just spider mites and other pests causing mechanical damage on the leaves! It finally bloomed again after so many years of neglect, and suprisingly still alive. I divided it to a fellow forum orchid grower so the plant looks so small now.

Fren, that's incredibly pretty. I love the Chinese cymbidiums and their hybrids.

Very nice and charming. The other piece is doing brilliantly, no bloom yet, hopefully in the spring...

It's also very low maintenance. Thanks Fren.

I'm glad its doing well Barbara. I hope that it bloom for you too.
I was very happy when it decided to spike. I moved it to a southernly window when it was under my mom's care and then it spiked. Seems that a small change can induce a plant to bloom sometimes.
