Default A Cymbidium for Missouri?

What cymbidiums would do well in our climate? I understand minis, not standards, tend to take our heat better - is that true?

What kind of highs do you have? Keeping the humidity up will help.

I have both smaller growing and the large type they both do well I put them out in the spring under a canopy they stay out until nights go to 40 then they are brought in . Some are supposed to be warmth tolerant I grow them the same . There may be some species that require special treatment . Gin

Cyms tolerate heat well, just need the period of cool nights in fall to initiate spikes if they aren't warmth tolerant

I agree. I have standard Cyms out in 90 degree heat at times in the summer and they are fine. But I let them get close to freezing ( around 36 or 40F) before bringing them inside in fall. That's what initiates the bloom spikes.

Yeah, mine have taken highs of over 100. It does cool off significantly at night here tho, even during extreme heat.

Avoid direct mid-day, afternoon sun if it's extremely hot.
