Yay, Cyms flowering!! - Orchid Board

Hello, just had to share with some fellow orchid lovers the wonderful supprise I found while looking at my orchids this avo, 4 of my Cyms have spikes! 2 are very advanced and 2 are still small. I can't believe it, with all the nurturing under my pergola or in the greenhouse, they do best by far, left out in my garden steps! That suits me

So I thought I would share some pics of the spikes that have opened. I must say (without sounding ungrateful to the orchid faeries) I am a bit disappointed with the similarity of the flowers. I have acquired my orchids from far and wide, mostly rescued from friends and family and the only orchids that have ever flowered for me have this same colour!!? There is another spike that is just starting to open today and it appears to be the same colour as well.

Never the less, I am still very excited!

Cymbidium hybrids usually look alike. Your pictures are very nice!

Well I am not sure what hybrids you have been looking at but they come in all colours from pure white (Sarah Jean 'Ice Cascades' through to almost black (Kiwi Midnight 'Geyserland'). There are yellows, pinks, reds, greens in fact almost anything but blue.

There are upright, pendulous and arching spikes and plants vary in size from ones that will flower in a 4" pot to massive plants where a single pseudobulb would not fit into that same 4" pot.

I meant the flowers shape/appearance look alike (maybe similar is a better word). I didn't say they all are only green. I own multiple cymbidiums in many colors.
