What does the term &quot;maudaie type&quot; mean?
Default What does the term "maudaie type" mean?

I purchased a paph cross. Besides the cross name it said "Maudaie type". What does that mean? Thanks for your input. Kack

"Maudiae type" refers to a group of hybrids with similar breeding that all look and grow very similarly. These hybrids primarily have species from section Barbata in their background (i.e. P. callosum, P. lawrenceanum, etc.). The group's namesake is the antique primary hybrid Paph. Maudiae (callosum x lawrenceanum).
