I think "Freeze Cloth" is also called "Frost Blanket". Some people also put a light bulb or string of Christmas tree lights under it. Of course if I used the frost blanket and Christmas light technique - then I would have to forget the mist. It was 39 F here night before last 80F today. May see temps again in the high 30's around the 19th of Dec

I gave up after last night and brought everything inside the GH.

I probably killed my Phaiocalanthes (see my post in the Orchid Lounge).

The Cyms got 3 hours at 28degrees early this am when we had a sudden dip in the temps. I hope they are okay. I haven't seen any buds or spikes yet but it is not "officially" winter here. Cyms usually bloom here in March and April.

Here's crossing my fingers that they are okay, 'cause the Phaios are definitely not....

I lost the spikes and leaves on Phaius and Phaius/calanthes last winter when the cyms did fine under the water mist. The leaves came back and the plants are in flower now. Maybe they will come back for you.
Phaius/Calanthe crosses were made with the intent of creating a landscape plant for Florida so they are somewhat hardy. Gary Hauserman of EFG orchids made many of the crosses but the outcome is so nice and sells so well - that few have bought them for landscape plants. Hope yours come back for another year.
