Default Would like to combine two plants in one pot

Greetings,

I am interested in combining two cymbidium plants into one pot. Does anyone have experience with this and who can give me the pros and cons.

Thanks,

David

Are both plants the same cultivar? Wondering why you would want to do this. Well grown cyms grow so fast that they soon out grow their pots.

Default Thanks for reply

Both plants are the same cultivar. I would like to create a fuller plant in a larger pot.

Thanks,

David

When dividing plants I have put two small divisions in one pot and the larger one in pots by themselves.
It does help small division fill the pot faster.

One of the Cyms I have is made up of 4 or 5 plants of the same cultivar. Another planter I have full of mixed Cyms and so far one of them have bloomed

As long as they take the same care, it's fine

Interestingly Gallup and Stribling used to pot up two or more Back Bulb sprouts in one pot. Helped bloom faster with more spikes in a smaller pot.. FYI

Bob,

Not only used to but use it as a regular treatment for mericlones... always two to a pot.

Multiple plants can be placed in a pot David, but one danger to watch is not to over-pot. If there is too much root room, the roots may tend to rot as there is too much medium and it does not drain sufficiently.

With that said, try it and see if you like it. Just be sure you plant these smaller divisions with the new growths facing outward.
