What a find!!!
This is a NOID cym that Rob (littlefrog) was kind enough to send to me a few months ago. I decided to plant it in the ground just to see what happened. I've been keeping a very close eye on it and today I found:

I just wish I were able to grow Cym's in the ground! They are too much for me in pots and I really love the blossoms. Looking forward to pics of the final blooms.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

I'm thrilled about them doing so well...but I really didn't have high expectations for this. As I said, I kept careful watch on it looking for signs of unhappiness. A few weeks ago, I let myself get a little too neurotic about it and told my husband I wanted it taken out of the ground so I could plant it "the right way". He stopped me, saying it looked good to him and I should leave it alone...
I just hate it when he's right!
I'm not advising anybody to go so totally against the protocol for where you live but in my opinion...you learn from your mistakes and all the people who have learned from theirs and are teaching us what they know took some chances along the way
I thank all of you for sharing your knowledge so freely.
Don't be afraid to make an educated decision. Read all you can, ask many questions, take notes...and then come up with a way to do what you want to

Sue, is that soil under there? Cool way of growing orchids! Congrats on the new growths, and I can't wait to see them bloom. Sometime a little persistance when you feel a little lost, or if you think you might be making a mistake sends you to the right place.
I learned that today, I was driving to the reptile show, and thought I was lost for about 30 minutes, but I decided to keep going to make sure. Suddenly I was where I wanted to go.

There's no soil here...it's sand!
How was the reptile show? Did you get a new frog?

Yes I did. I got Sam a girlfriend to keep him company.
It was amazing. As soon as I put her in the tank, he started calling like crazy, and trying to attract her to him. She was too busy exploring, but I hope there will be little ones soon. Now I need a name for her. She is slightly bigger and has the same color, and spots. Didin't have time to take pics, was too busy working on a presentation. Maybe tomorrow. I also got at the show, what seemed to be a miniature oncidium? Not sure.
