I am afraid collecting orchids is like a disease and there is no known cure!!! But it is a malady I am happy to have . Especially as after 20 something years of collecting ,my wife is at last getting to show an interest in growing the plants and often helps with repotting and watering
When I think back to my early days of growing I can shed a tear for the plants that I killed through stupidity now a days I very seldom lose a plant

It always starts with that sickly discount plant or that gift plant...

The thing may still be alive. I've had a Doritis pulcherimma grow a side shoot after all the leaves had dropped and left nothing but healthy roots. Mine died only because I didn't know at the time that my growing conditions allowed me to only grow Phalaenopsis mounted. Had I had known this earlier, I would still have this plant.
later on it will grow up. Leaves will appear . Keep the orchid .
