I tried to email an 11 Mb tiff, abut 2300 x 1800, 180 dpi, but my email was rejected with this error: "PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 12): 552 sorry, that message size exceeds my databytes limit"

I could save as a jpeg, but that would lose some info about the image.

What am I doing wrong? I'm using photoshop, and am pretty good with it, so I'll understand what you tell me to do.

UPDATE: OK, I used LZW compression, and they were successfully sent. Please let me know if they should be uncompressed.

Hi Just save it as a JPG and do not compress or leave the lowest compression. Your mail server doesn't allow you to send such a large email. At that res, the pic will still look very good

Hi Mere_dog,

Resave it in jpeg, level 12 in Photoshop. Their ISP limit is 10mb.

Good choice mere_dog. Nowadays most software can handle LZW, and it's totally lossless. The next best choice is to ZIP the tiff, but I haven't found much difference in the final file size from LZW compression.
