Default Grilling fish

Any favourite ways of grilling fish? Which fish you like grilling best ? Which cut? steaks, fillets, whole ?

Wife's in 3rd trimester, so I have to load her up with proteins I had a beautiful cut of of sushi grade yellow tail (hamachi) tuna left from a sushi party while back... I rubbed it with minced garlic, ginger, lemon, oil, salt, ground rosemary... It turned out great, also made some wild rice with it and a little side kohlrabi salad !

Good morning Marty...we love grilled salmon or tuna. This is a marinade that works really well with either of them:

1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/2 tsp dry mustard
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 TBSP brown sugar
1 tsp ginger
3 TBSP lite soy sauce
2 TBSP sherry

This amount is good for about 1 1/2 lbs of fish. Just mix it together, put fish in a ziplock bag, add marinade and keep in fridge for an hour or so. I usually flip the bag once or twice during that time to distribute flavor throughout.
Enjoy...and congratulations to you and your wife!

Marty,
be very careful loading your wife up on fish while pregnant. Certain tunas (other fish too) caught around asia have increased levels of mercury and cadmium in them, I know this because when I was in college my research group worked on this. We found elevated levels in fish from most every store we tried and especially in the canned tuna. Now, this isnt so bad for adults, but slightly elevated mercury or other heavy metal levels in your unborn child's blood could possibly lead to serious problems, autism being the most prevalant when mercury is involved. I'm not trying to freak you or anyone else out, nor am I saying this will definately happen, just be careful. There are plenty of other ways to get protein to her.

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, I pick and choose the fishes. Typically the belly parts are the ones heavier in heavy metals, so if this was 'fatty tuna' (toro) I wouldn't use it - or I'd eat it myself...Ymmm-cadmium!.

This was the top part of the fish, very lean. I pack her with beans, tofu and meats most of the time. Fish is a nice break from the regular. Although, she eats like a champ as far as quality goes. Nothing fried or junky. She's a bit fanatical with the diet, kid will have leaves at birth
