Hello OB chefs

Now that my veg patch is producing french beans by the armful, I thought I'd share a quick little something we all love and is great for BBQs:

1) Top and tail your beans and drop them into boiling water for a quick cook, somewhere around 4 minutes. That way, they are cooked, but still have a slight bite to them.

2) Drain and run under cold water to stop cooking

3) A few minutes before you want to serve, melt some butter in a frying pan and toss in some flaked almonds. Keep stiring the almonds until they start to brown and give off that lovely nutty smell.

4) Add the beans and stir around for a minute or so and then serve

Fantastic with almost anything. Also, if you prefer mange tout rather than beans, or a combination, they work well too - just as well, as they're growing in the garden too!

Enjoy

Sounds good. Our beans are just getting ready to flower. We plant the climbing beans. We are having buttered beets for supper tonight though!!!!

Thank fully I have no room (now) for such things but I couldn't grow them too well when I had the room. I think it was the wrong bean type for my area. Enjoy your produce tho'!

Sounds delicious. Pecans might be good with them too.

Thanks everyone, the pecans sound an interesting touch, may have to experiment Soon, I'll be up to my eyes in potatoes and beetroot as well, so stand-by for one or two more recipes
