I know it may seem like sacrilege but... Simple Steel cut oats cooked in water are AMAZING to wake up to in the winter!

Get's even better with cinnamon and rum soaked raisins!

The crock pot slow cook works wonders for sweets also...
of course for the health conscious there is also stewed apple (apple sauce) which is amazing by slow cooker. Think unrefined demerara brown sugar and a stick of cinnamon

I don't know if you're a guy or a gal, but Pinterest has a plethora of crock pot recipes. I will share one for honey soy ribs, though, that is an old recipe I was given Technically they're for a dutch oven, but..bah humbug to that. And while it may look like a lot of ingredients, it comes together beautifully. This is one of our favorite dishes in my house:

1 Vidalia Onion, chopped
1/4 inch Slice of Ginger
5 Cloves Garlic, run through a press or minced
4 Tablespoons Honey
1 cup Chinese Rice Wine (Or Dry Sherry)
4 Tablespoons Light Soy Sauce
1/2 Cup Oyster Sauce
1 & 1/2 Teaspoons Chinese 5 Spice
1 Cinnamon Stick
2 Teaspoons Dried Chili Flakes
1 Cup Water.

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, pour over ribs in the crock pot, cook on high 4-5 hours and low 6ish hours or until meat is tender and falls off the bone (if you have bones. I often use country style ribs, which are boneless). Serve over rice, garnish with cilantro if you want.

PS - If you don't do spice, cut the chili flakes to like 1 or 1/2 tsp depending.
