They like warm. Temperature colder than 15°C will weaken it and temperature below 10°C is definitely fatal...I lost one in January last year when the night temperature at my balcony dropped to 8°C due to the severe cold wave (outside temperature was bone-freezing -15°C). It seemed to have no rest period IMO...I kept mine with cattleyas and it seemed to do fine, until the cold snap hit.

Please don't tell mine about needing to be warm, you will give it ideas... ... it is in its 3rd winter in my care... Doesn't look great - loses leaves after blooming (but then, Coelogynes tend to do that anyway) but it is now just finishing blooming. Winter night temperatures down to 5 deg C pretty routinely, a few nights down to about 3 deg C) It does warm up during the day (15-18 deg). Would it be happier not so cold? Probably. But it seems to have adapted.

I grow it in sphagnum in a basket. I don't particularly dry it out (I just water everything less in winter because plants don't dry out as fast), grow it somewhat shady.
