Mine looks so much different than KonaLinda's
Dendrochilum glumaceum

It may be nothing more than differences in culture that create the differences.

She's on the drier side of the island.
We've had a wet summer with a lot of cloudy days.
Our solar generation is way down from last year.

Hers was on a table under a tree, but I suspect that it may have been getting more light than mine.

Then again, it may be just a difference in the characteristics of the individual plants.

Yours looks fine, just not as big as mine. Do you have it mounted instead of in a pot. I can't really tell. I've always read that they like to be pot bound and not disturbed till absolutely necessary. It could be that the Kona side is just more desirable!! I try to keep it watered but am not the best waterer. It gets good light but not sun. It just sits on that little table under the money tree and grows.

Did you happen to get to the Hilo meeting last week? Speaker was in Kona also. I got a new dendrochilum species from him--from Bermuda I think he said. Nice sized cutting so hope I can get it to grow as well as the glumaceum.

No.
I haven't been to an OS meeting for many moons now.
It's a 50 mile round trip to town.
They haven't had anything going on that has piqued my interest.
Too many social events, not enough of the right types of orchids.
But, I do check the newsletter every month.

I'm expecting my Dendroc. wenzelii to begin showing buds in the not too distant future.

I better take a look at mine. seems it bloomed earlier in the summer.

We sometimes come to Hilo for meeting--more like 150 miles RT!
