Coelogyne pandurata potting Male
Default Coelogyne pandurata potting

hi there

I have a 5-pseudobulb with new growth Coelogyne pandurata outgrowing a 15cm pot and I have no idea to protect the new growth

one thing I know is that the plant has sinistral growth, it grows the new pseudobulb from the left node of the previous pseudobulb

I wonder to move it into wire basket without breaking the small pot because I'm afraid it will sulk

what kind of potting medium should I put onto the wire basket? is there any possible way to break the original pot?

thank you

I don't grow this Coelogyne, but, in general, they are not affected by transplanting. A basket might be a good idea. If you need to break the pot, that will not be a problem for the plant. My Coel. is in a bark mixture. I have read of people here using many different potting mixtures with good results.
