Default dendrochilum glumaceum

this plant blooms from immature growth, so i haven't been able to figure out if these are cultured best with a photoperiod or temperature change...they live between 700m-1400m so i think they need the temperature change. from what i've read, they mostly bloom in spring, but also can bloom in fall and winter, which signifies a wide photoperiod association.

maybe it needs BOTH

i have 9 new growths just pushing out from the pinkish sheaths and 5 slightly bigger growths, one of which finally after two years of culturing has a spike. i want to make sure the rest of them have spikes so what do i do? feed it bloom booster and watch the temps? put it someplace cool dry and dark for nights? i really don't know....

The forecast over the next few nights is cooler weather again, so I think that's on target.

Mine blooms spring and fall--I think. It just sits under a tree and I water it! It grows in an aluminum colander. It has dozen of spikes each bloom, which smell heavenly. No idea if temps make a difference. My orchids grow inspite of me, not because of me!

it has been so cool here my kingianum and pleuro must love it, practically everything else is inside already...though my glumaceum is not. i water it at night to make it even cooler in its clay pot, but i don't know if i need to feed it too.

when it blooms for you, is it during a drier period or just after a cold spell?
