Coel. ochracea (nitida) in Bloom Female
Default Coel. ochracea (nitida) in Bloom

I bought this one early last year. It is potted in tree fern in a 3" clay pot. It had been slow to get started, but seems to be happy now. This is the first of 3 spikes. This Coelogne has upright inflorescence.

The plant is labeled ochracea, but OrchidWiz indicates that is is now Coel. nitida.

(it is also pleasantly fragrant.)

Gorgeous flowers....love the colors and form....fragrance is a big factor why I would covet an orchid.

Thanks everyone! The second spike will be opening in a few days which will double the display , The third spike is much smaller and so I think it will be while before it produces.

Wonderful plant indeed! One I still have to add to my collection

Edit: what conditions do you provide for this plant? It's supposed to be cold, that's why I'm hesitating to buy it.

I have been growing outside in the summer which here in Northern NJ can mean quite warm. In the winter it is a sun room where the night time temps are often in the 50's and the day temps in the mid-sixties. It is blooming right on schedule. It is potted in tree fern and in a clay pot to help keep the roots cool. So for the short answer, now that I've given the explanation..... I haven't found it to be too demanding of cool temps.
