Well great, you convinced me! I'm definitely going to try out some of the colder growing Coel. this year

I already have my eye set on 17 different ones for this year and I'm not afraid to go for it!

17 ! Wow that's a huge amount, I hope you have some room because those plants get big when they grow nicely!!!
If you ever find C. miniata ( small red flowers), please let me know I have been looking for it for ages! Only saw one picture if it one day and I fell in love...

Ah yes miniata! I saw one on eBay this year but didn't go for it as I wasn't sure yet as to what I was going to do in 2014.

I tried my hands on seedlings, flasking and some spatulata Dens, but results were not that great. So I decided to have a calmer year and deal with what I'm most familiar with: Coelogynes!

So yes, I missed the opportunity on C. miniata (which is in my top 5 as well) but I'm sure I'll get it one day

My other focus will be the catasetinae tribe, as I have had good results with the few I have and just love those!

I'll list the ones I'm going for this year tonight, I made an Excell sheet to make sure I don't forget any!

I do remember my first order should be around €200 worth of Coelogynes...yes it's definitely going to be a "calmer" year for my bank account. I can feel it!

May I ask which are the sellers you get yours from? I am looking for some hard to find species and new sellers names may help...

Well dammit I don't understand the notion of holding back once I've got my mind set on something...

I've managed to add 3 Coelogynes to my collection since my last post: C. rochussenii, C. parishii (very happy I found this one!) and C. cristata var. hololeuca.
The last two I got on eBay for about 15€ each, which I consider a bargain in the case of the C. parishii. C. rochussenii I got from a local vendor.

As for the Coelogyne vendors, I try and keep it inside the EU. Limited shipping duration and no import/export administration required.

I suggest you take a look at schwerter orchideenzucht, I've ordered from them before and the size and quality of their plants are more than reasonable for the prices they offer them at.

But the Coelogyne heavyweight is Orchids & More in Germany for me. He has an awesome range of Coelogynes, some of them are young plants so I'm staying away from those, but plenty more to go for there!
A friend of mine visits his greenhouse once or twice a year and plant quality is beyond reproach!

If you're interested, here's what I still plan on acquiring this year:
C. brachyptera
C. occultata
C. pandurata
C. schilleriana
C. editiense (I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it looks like C. aff confusa. Definitely something I don't own yet)
C. eberhardtii
C. nitida
C. taronensis
C. bilamellata
C. celebensis
C. prolifera
C. swaniana
C. assamica

I'm not saying I will actually manage to obtain all of them, but I'll try not going for anything else in order to have as many as I can...finances permitting of course

I grow mine in intermediate conditions and it seems to be quite happy! Flowered last year and it's putting out 3 shoots now, while the plant has 5 bulbs in total

Very beautiful pictures! Thanks a lot and congratulations for all those flowers. Indeed, the weather in Belgium must be taken in account when watering.
At the moment, I have 2 young coelogyne : cristata and intermedia. Very common, I know, but I like it very much and the fragrance is very nice.

Kind regards,
