speaking of labellum...can you look at my pics and tell me what you think. I have emailed this in to Trey Sanders but haven't heard back yet. My former mystery plant - latifolium var macranthum compared to a new plant labled magnum.

*you may want to visit OrchidsBy Eli on ebay or online to get a hold of this orchid plant....I have seen it being posted early spring of this year.

It is a magnum.
Just by looking at the leaves and the pseudo bulbs but it is still on its seedling phase; in a couple of years your leaves will grow longer and bigger even the bulbs will at least reach 4 inches in diameter ....and your flower has the erect labellum.

Here is a specimen sized Dendrochillum magnum posted by another member a while ago:
the longest leaf span of his plant is almost 4 feet.

This gave me 6 leads last year but the flowers were all eaten by the birds ....this year this gave me 12 leads but only seven flowers I was able to save. The birds like to eat the flowers maybe mistaking it for wheat. I have to bring it indoors while there are still flowers coming....the leaves are getting longer and bigger as it is fast becoming a specimen.

Have gotten into these beauties the last few yrs but stick to the smaller varieties.All 5 seem to be getting ready to put forth. But also got a Pholidota at a recent local show with 1 long inflorescence since it's a similar type of culture plant. All these deserve more attention,IMO!

My only problem with this orchid plant are the leaves getting fungi on some of the tips. Otherwise I just water it and feed it regularly and hold fertilizer in winter.

Will definitely do! For now he's been just sitting there, growing roots, but hopefully with the arrival of spring we'll see some action
