Looks great and tempting. But i wonder if it might be too sprawling and large or if it can stay in a 8 inch pot

That is really a beauty, David, and the first one I've seen. Congrats! That's a name I'm going to remember!

Hi Stefpix,
I haven't logged in for a while, so I'm sorry for the delay in responding.

Actually, this is somewhat of a sprawling plant. I'm still growing mine in a 4 inch pot, but it takes the space of a 10 inch pot.

I was up at the judging center at AOS headquarters this past Saturday with it and I actually won an 84 point CHM (Certificate of Horticultural Merit) on it. It is the first time this species has been recognized by the AOS. I'll go ahead and include some photos I took today; one is a close up and the other the whole plant.

It is now Coel. mayeriana 'Robert Bailey' CHM/AOS

Enjoy, David

Hi Anders...no, there's no scent on this one, but I like it just the same!

Hi Sherry,
I just noticed your post. I grow mine in fir bark, and provide water regularly so it doesn't dry our real hard. For light, it gets the same as my cattleyas...about 50% shade here in south Florida, maybe a little less. I fertlize weekly. It is a strong grower, but the older leaves do have a habit of turning brown on the ends. It is actually blooming again this week.

I hope this helps, David
