I read Coelogyne, especially Fimbriata, were not suitable for semi hydroponics. However, I had 3 cuttings and thought I'd experiment: this one is by far the best. It doesn't really trail and has stayed compact (it started with about 3-4 pseudobulbs and hasn't been repotted since I got it about 2 years ago. It has managed to stay compact and not stretch its rhizome out very much. I also have a Bulbophyllum EAB which has shortned its rhizome growing in semi hydroponics.

I feel like I'm starting to get a decent specimen plant going now and soon will have some really great flowers

Those look great. And it looks like you have a technique for controlling the annoying rambling habit that these tend to have.
