Default Pleione

Instead of hijacking a thread that has some people ( Sue ) interested in this orchid, I decided to list all the sites I have collected on Pleiones and vendors where they can be purchased. This is one species I have been eying for quite a while ... Enjoy
Pleione has been referred to as
Glory of the East, Himalayan crocus, Indian crocus, Windowsill orchid and Peacock orchid.
Pleione limprichtii is known as the Hardy chinese orchid.

The Pleione Website
Terrestrial Orchid Gallery - ƒ—ƒƒ•ƒƒƒ ƒƒ”ƒšƒ˜ > Pleione
Easy Orchids - Pleione
Pleione1.page

Vendors
USA - Pleione at Santa Barbara Orchid Estate
Orchid Seedlings
Canada - Fraser's Thimble Farms - Orchids, Pleione, Bletilla

Everyone is welcome to add their comments, suggestions and/or advice, photos and additional vendors

Dorothy,
A dealer here in south Africa is offering Pleiones for sale and I thought that I would try them (hence my search on Orchid board). Are they easy to grow?
Thanks in advance
Mike

Dorothy,
Our summers sometimes go to 40C or more but I am still going to give them a try. The cost per plant will not break me and if I don't try I will never succeed. So what the hell; never mind the expense, give the cat another goldfish
The ones that I am going to try are maculata, humilis and praecox. So any tips on culture would be most gratefully received.
Mike
