Obtained in bud from Akatsuka, the flowers smell just like root beer. Good enough to drink!

Oh, Subrosa! Mine has 5 or 6 spikes, its mammoth! Unfortunately, it's scent reminds me I need to clean the litter box. You're fortunate to smell root beer.

I never heard it smelled like root beer before! I know scent is subjective but this one certainly takes it to the extreme. The last time mine was bloom I brought it into the office because I thought it smelled exactly like my Chanel Chance Eau Tendre perfume and I wanted it to sit on my desk. One person thought it smelled like urine, some said it reminded them of grandma (in a not so good way), another thought it smelled very medical, a few people thought it smelled nice, and someone else walked in and immediately thought one of us had forgot to clean the office fridge.
Oh well. Glad you think yours smells nice and at least it’s pretty for those that don’t think so! (Sorry Dolly!)

When I bought it, I was told it smelled like bubble gum.🤯

Lovely flower! Root beer scent would not entice me ... though it would be better than used kitty litter. Sounds like one of those flowers whose fragrance will vary wildly depending upon the nose that smells it. I've run into a few flowers like that before ... star gazer lilies come to mind. Time of day may make a difference as well.

To me, smells like wintergreen. So subjective...
