Laelia hybrid - 2 part question
Default Laelia hybrid - 2 part question

Hello Folks:
I recently saw at our orchid society show Lc Jhoenmy Hermo a L. anceps X c. luedemanniana hybrid.
1. I'd like to know of a source for this beauty.
2. the breeder in RHS orchid registry is listed as J.L. Hermo, but I cannot find much of anything about this identity, even though there are quite a few hybrids attributed. Is it a nursery? an individual? Location?
I'd appreciate any information - thanks very much, and happy growing,
Maryanne

I looked around the web (I am sure you did too), did not find this hybrid for sale. Might be worth emailing some of the nurseries that specialize in Cattleya breeding, to see if someone might have it, or have some "in process" Sunset Valley Orchids, Santa Barbara Orchid Estate, Carter & Holmes come to mind as some of the more active breeders.

I suspect that J.L. Hermo is a person. Orchidwiz often has address or contact information, but not for this hybridizer. Quite of few of this originator's hybrids have "Jose" or "Jose's..." in the name, so an educated guess is that the "J" is Jose. But further searches drew a blank. Good luck...

Thanks for chiming in Roberta -- perhaps someday the mystery will be solved.
