I going tomorrow and to IKEA. But I cannot buy much because I have an Olympic Orchid order coming tomorrow...babies, babies, babies.

I consider myself a newbie in the field of Cattleyas. I’ve had some success with Paphs, which have tolerated sporadic neglect and still bloomed reliably.

I will echo what another member here said: Get yourself a flowering sized Catt or two. The immediate reward will help you stay focused on the young plants. I’ve lost young plants because they grow so very slowly that I simply forget them.

Another good source of Cattleyas while you are learning: Lowe's. Usually for about $7.00 each you can get seedlings the size of yours. $12 to $15 for a significantly larger plant. Typically they are healthy when they arrive at the store, less so a couple months later. I have gotten some nice awarded clones that I have been very happy with.

These plants are produced by Better Gro in Florida which seems to be Lowe's main vendor for orchids.

Thanks everyone for the advice
I soaked them last week and now i'm misting the aerial root daily. I have them at an east window away from my other orchids in case of pests but so far I haven't noticed anything and they seem to being doing ok so far, but if anything changes I'll probably be back on here.

Next time I make an order for orchids i'm going to check one of the sits you guys listed. I won't be able to go to Hausermann's open house this year due to work but it dose look like fun and I'm going to keep it in mind for next year and see if I can get off.

I would suggest not misting Cattleyas. Wet/dry is the cycle. Pots that size will likely need to be watered every 1-4 days depending on the temperatures.
