Default Secret love needs repoting.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your help you gave me on my other post. Secret love has bloomed 20 flowers of beautiful scent. Now I think it needs repoting how would you go about it. Would you keep as one plant or divide?

wow! what a nice display! excellent job blooming that one out!

I am not sure what your climate is, or if it even is an issue, but, I think its harder to keep a big plant going well...when they are plopped in a larger pot....maybe if you put it in a bigger azalea pot....clay if you can find one....in my greenhouse, I would make about 3 plants of that...I rather keep them in small pots and not risk rot, but then I have to hang my cattleyas to keep them in sun...so, not much help to you I am afraid....6 of 1 and a half dozen of another....

nice job tho, it looks great!

Amazing!

If you have space, I would vote to keep it together for an even better show next time. The roots currently out of the pot are doing almost all the work, so you know you don't need to stuff them into a pot. The roots look excellent, so your relative humidity and watering practices are probably very good.

I might consider merely unpotting it, shaking off as much old medium as possible without disturbing the plant too much, and nestling it into a wooden basket without medium. The roots will figure it out.

The basket could be hung up in the window, freeing up more windowsill space for another plant! We look forward to seeing that one, too!

Thank you for your reply. The orchid is better colour looked pale because of light. I am going to try to keep it in the pot. What would you do to the spent bulbs that are shrinking to try and help it to flourish again next year. It is Autumn here so will get colder now. Yes I have room to hang it in the conservatory it gets just the right amount of light and warmth there. I have some rubbing alcohol to sterilise the knives I will use.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply, I think I will try to keep it in the pot. Hang it in the conservatory. It is Autumn here now so cooling down. I would like to take off some of the spent bulbs and leaves that are yellowing. I will sterilise the knives with rubbing alcohol.
