Default Epidendrum porpax

This is the red version. There is a green version but I have not yet bloomed it. This was surprising behavior for this plant—it being in bloom and the fact that is part of the Cattleya Alliance. The blooms have no scent.

It has grown outside from Memorial Day (May 29,2017) till now, as the night temperature falls below 50F, I’m transitioning inside for the
Winter.

Inside it grows under lights in warm temperatures and moving fresh air. I spray water it daily. I try to keep it at 50% relative humidity.

Epi porpax was one of my first miniature orchids, purchased from J&L. Again, our grow list! My plant is potted in the coolest little clay pot with holes around the sides. I like the pot as much as the plant, even contacted J&L to try and purchase more of these pots lol.

I grow in a countertop greenhouse in my kitchen in SE exposure. I use lights and a fan inside the enclosure. My plant flowered months ago, early May. It too is the red version.

I love their odd flowers, your plant looks awesome Matt!

Thanks Patty! Yes, we do have very similar grow lists. This one I got from Louisiana Orchid Connection. I liked it so much, I bought another from them early this Summer. Then I found a green one from an eBay vendor, just to see what that looked like.

I don't have the green one, I hope yours flowers for you. From what I've seen, the flowers are easy to miss as they blend in with the leaves.
