Wonderful! Last year (hot summer) I had one bloom in the summer, completely out of season, and then it went on to do a new growth and yet another spike, in late winter at the normal time. Yours might be so happy, that it does the same. I have had a rather cool summer, my L. anceps spikes are only starting. So great to see yours!

In fact there are new growths already...

You might get the same response! Two for one would be great! It also apparently likes its container and location.

Finally it bloomed...this spike has been around since the summer (roughly a meter long). There are two more that I think will bloom in the next month.
There are also lots of roots growing from one intermediate node. The plant is already outgrowing the pot wich might be a problem in the future as the pot is already really large and heavy.

Here's some photos:

Looks fantastic! My experience with L. anceps is that it does best once it escapes from the pot. You could put another pot (with or without media) near those leads going over the side... then they can root into the "neighbor" pot, when established you can cut the rhizome and you have a new plant that is already established.

I will have to think about it...in this case I think it's not practicable. Usually I put it indoors in winter, when there's cold and rain. During that time, I water it in the tub...well, I could do it in the balcony and then out it inside as soon the water is drained, which takes just a few minutes.

6 spikes this time
Some flowers show some signs of age already. I've been moving to another house so time for photos hasn't been much.

What a wonderful show! I hope that the new house has more room for orchids...

Well, it's smaller. I'm still trying to find where to put my Stan and the anceps when in spike (more than 1 meter spikes take a lot of room).
Another downside (considering orchid growing) is that the whole house floor is laminate floating wood floor which doesn't like water.
The plus side is that I get extra 5 hrs of sun in winter (good for anceps and rupiculous).
All my other plants won't experience any changes as the new house is in the same building and with the same orientation.
