It does have beautiful tones on it. Congrats.

Very beautiful! I love this species, let me know if you ever have divisions of this one to trade. I've subjected several different clones to overnight temps of around 24 F with no apparent ill effects, not sure what the lower limit is, though.

How humid was that 24 F / -4.5C? Did ice crystallize on the plant?

Pretty dry, for the most part. I did have a couple get heavily frosted at similar temps and survive, albeit with loss of several 1-2" new growths.

Dry cold is not nearly as damaging as wet cold. I make sure to pull inside the few outdoor orchids (NOID Cym, Dend. kingianum, Epi. magnoliae) I have that stay on the porch all winter if they are wet.

I'm going to do that this winter with some more plants. Last winter I put some newly-bought deciduous Dens outside for some of the winter, but I chickened out, and they spent some weeks with a night minimum of 60 F. They didn't bloom.

Do it! This group of plants is much hardier than we give them credit for.

Yeah, it's a bit of a weed--but an admittedly very refined weed. :-)

Glad you like it, Steve. And it's clearly liking you too, as it looks amazingly robust and happy.

Thanks again for the division!

Out of curiosity, is yours blooming right now too? Or did the Texas weather confuse mine?

No, mine isn't blooming at the moment. It's in the process of completing the newest couple of growths, so I'm anticipating some blooms in the late-January to late-February timeframe. I think yours probably appreciates the extended warm growing season than what I'm able to provide.
