Default Cattlianthe Golden Wax, differences with light intensity

This is a plant that I have had for about 30 years.

Cattlianthe Golden Wax is quite a variable grex, with some plants bearing nearly solid yellow flowers, others having more or less red in the lip and in the petals or sepals.

I also see color differences with the light that the plant blooms in. Here is an older photo, winter 2013, bloomed indoors under fluorescent light:

The photo below I took today, the color is stronger than usual, more red. It bloomed in higher light, outdoors.

You can see in both photos that a little peloria evident. I have seen clones of Cattlianthe Golden Wax 'JF' that looks similar to mine (though this is NOT that clone)

I like the last more red one best, but they are both great.

Hi Shannon

Yes, it's quite tall, over two feet when in spike.

This plant has always been incredibly vigorous. It has bloomed every year that I have owned it, typically twice a year, occasionally 3/year, typically with every growth unless I have recently divided it. Even small divisions bloom (they just have fewer flowers). The 3-inch flowers are waxy and long-lasting (no fragrance but that's OK). If I had to choose between my plants for a "favorite" this would be it.
