Epidendrum nocturnum leaf discoloration
Default Epidendrum nocturnum leaf discoloration

I received this Epidendrum nocturnum plant in the mail a few weeks ago. It seems healthy - new growth on most leads, a new bud, but some of the leaves have become a darker green with a reddish tint. This has affected most of the older foliage; the younger leaves are still bright green.

Is this a sign of too much light? I know for my Brassavola they say that you want some red speckles as a sign of adequately bright light.

It is being grown under a single T5 bulb, about 6-8 inches away. I measure 5000-7000 lux at leaf surface.

Thanks for any input!

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong area, but I couldn't find your gallery.

The leaves look fine to me. Red in the leaves is not considered a problem and actually denotes really good light level for photosynthesis.
