I love C. eldorado and this one is far above a tipo, for its shape and rich dark colour. A great plant. You encourage my wish to get one. I also love the concolor.

Lovely! Mine is flowering as well. I believe it is a mericlone from Japan named after M. Ito.

Apologize that this is coming 10 years later, but I just bought this cultivar, and am realizing there are 3 Cattelyas registered as 'Eldorado'.

I can rule out the cross with cernua, of course, but there seems to be a species registered with this name, as well as a complex hybrid.

Does anyone know whether or not 'Mt. Ito' is referring to a species or the hybrid with C. Canhamiana? Thank you!

I looked up some photos, it looks to me like the species, cultivar 'Mt. Ito' . Just to muddy the water some more, it's accepted name is now C. wallisii , C. eldorado being a synonum.

Thanks! I suppose that could be correct, but even muddier still is that the hybrid Eldorado is Canhamiana x walisii.

Hopefully someone else can offer additional insights, but I'd love to think this is a species for now.

Another clue, C. Eldorado (the hybrid) has no awards. The species has a bunch of them, 3 of which are the cultivar 'Mt. Ito' , 2 in Germany and 1 in the US (There is no "directory" of cultivar names except when there is an award.)

The variety name is MOUNT ITO.
It is a mountain in Japan.
One of the best C. eldorado varieties.
Mericloned to keep this beauty existant.

Mooi hoor, groeten, Peter

Hi, I absolutely love the color! I happened to be back in the Netherlands last summer/early fall and indeed it was hot!
En de cattleya’s in je kas zien er prachtig uit!
