Default Brassavola George Tyler

Got this years ago as a seedling from Oak Hill, now a large specimen, Outdoors here in Los Angeles, grows like a weed. Many more flowers still in bud stage, should flower for the next few months, night time citrus fragrance.

That's an amazing plant. These "other' Brassavolas tend to be a bit neglected with that diva nodosa hogging the spotlight all the time.

Question

Super Dooper! I just bought a small David Sander and have found brassavolas to give me fits of rage! I've been told how 'easy' they are and unless you want to be responsible for my future mental health...what should I know? Tricks of the trade please!

I keep coming back for another look, and another, and another. Brassavolas (all of them!) are my favs...and this one is spectacular.

It goes to the TOP of my 'must have' list.

I got it 7 years ago as a small seedling on a small stick, stuck it in warm greenhouse, it flowered 2 years later and I mounted to what you see it on in picture. I grow this outdoors here in Los Angeles, it has seen temps into the high 100f and as cold as 25f for a night, it has seen its share of frost. From November on I rearly water and if I do it is because we have not had any rain for awhile. From March onward regular to daily watering's as heat and days get longer, weekly fertilizer.

I grow this under 50% shade cloth stretched tight. It hangs close to shade cloth, they like light.

Don't over water, they do like to dry out.
Give strong light, notice my plant has leaves that have that purple color, that is a good thing. Green leaves for me means little to no flowers.

Hope that helps
