Yep! Those are spikes. They will bloom and after they open you can photograph them and cross pollinate each flower to get a pod....after three months you dry them for a couple of days under the sun then you may get a flavorful vanillin to flavor your milk or ice cream....

This plant isn't established, and I'm putting it on a new mount soon.
So no seed pods for now.
But that sure sounds like a fun project down the line.

I just recalled seeing this flower pictured in the background on some of my favorite latin sweets all through out my childhood. It all makes sense!
