Got this as a sizable division from a friend of mine this past summer. He obtained it from a gent who could not bloom it. My friend then proceeded to bloom it with nary a problem at all. Knowing how much I love mini's, he then passed on a division to me. Much to my excitement, it has bloomed for me with ease.

This is the only member of the Cattleya alliance I own which blooms BEFORE producing leaves from the new growth. (While I know there are other species that do so, all those I own and almost I see bloom after new growth matures.) Flowers have quite an nice fragrance too.

Congrats!! Yours is beautiful!

Mine's in bloom now too. Interesting your friend's friend found it difficult to bloom...like you, I think it's a fairly undemanding and fuss-free little catt.

You know...the only thing I've found that I don't like about lundii is the fact that the flowers tend to face straight up. I know it's because they are emerging from undeveloped leaves but (IMO) it makes for a very awkward display. Maybe that's just me but I've contemplated dividing mine and mounting half just to see if the display would be nicer.

It's lovely!

I received a tiny seedling from a close friend a few years ago that is blooming for the first time. Unfortunately, she has not bloomed her seedlings yet. This is a delightful little species.

Yours had the best flower form that I've seen. Congratulations on blooming it.

These Brazilian Rupicolous Species Laelia are good companion plants for Neofinetia falcata--small plants with spectacular flowers and very easy to grow. I have this variety too. You have a lovely plant with beautiful blooms.

It is a very pretty flower. What kind of media and how much light/ water does it get? I am trying to figure out if rupicolous laelias will grow outdoors in rainy, hot and humid south Florida.

Here is a very good summary. Also, there is a member, TommyMiami who lives in north Miami that grows these plants. I hope he sees this thread and can provide his culture tips.
