I do hope future bloomings will include more flowers! The first blooming it had three flowers on one spike, but they were noticeably smaller than the last two ... |

Well, at least you got one flower.
The one I bought in the summer with two flowers, grew small lead and now working on a second lead. No flowers. lol
I think the whole thing has some problems.
Most of the leaves except for the very new ones are wrinkly, which I've never seen happen in any of my other cattleyas.
What kind of light do you give to yours?
I find my tropical pointer is very sensitive to high light as opposed to all other catts that are apparently doing well.

Well, it seems to me that this one, perhaps due to the intermedia parent, does not want media to dry out completely. My first new growth after getting this plant got a bit crimped at the base of the new foliage after allowing media to dry out.
Mine is in a west facing window that gets some direct sun mid-afternoon-ish - a couple of hours maybe? Maybe more or less depending on the season ...
Hope you get some flowers soon! Mine hasn't bloomed on each matured growth - hope it will as the plant matures!

Oh, now I know.
I did dry out really bad more than once in the summer and the whole thing, leaves and pbs, just wrinkled up when no other cattleyas did.
The winkles went away after good soaking, but it happened a few more times since.
I think I will have to water more often.
Do you keep this plant moist then??
I do not know about the culture requirement of intermedia.

Very lightly moist, I guess. Using a skewer, I water when the skewer feels cool, but not damp.
I read somewhere about intermedia not wanting to be as dry as most other Catts, right about the time my intermedia had gotten some crimped at the base after growing drier. |
