I would have never guessed sloppy and wet either. I noticed it was always dry in the clay and the new growths were very brittle and prone to popping off at the slightest touch. The + on knockin the eyes off is its put out 2 or more new ones where it gets broken...Doesn't mind being dry just seems to do better moist here in hootown summers. it will be kept drier when the temps drop as that's standard seasonal procedure for most of the plants. hybrids you can play with some all year long. the species kind of have to stick to there schedule for the most part IMO.
