Default Cattleya porphyroglossa

Cattleya porphyroglossa is not often found in collections and also is seldom seen in shows. Maybe this is due to its modest flowers, measuring 2.2” at most, with narrow lips. The plant is not tall and is native to the State of Espirito Santo in Brazil. The lips are full of crests with the tips of the central lobe folded upward. The flowers have an intense perfume very similar to the lemongrass.

I think this is the first one I've seen that wasn't in a book specific to cattleyas. It really should be more available as it is a lovely species.

I've never seen this in person. It's an interesting flower and plant, and I rather like the rich honey color. Thanks for showing us a rare one!

I like this one and have seen it very seldom. I find it very interesting with it's coloration and gaping mouth and it's striking lip!
