Hi,
I was repotting my orchid and I accidently broke off a new lead. Will it grow back? There is one more new lead coming in another area (picture 6).

While you take a peak at it prior to and after re-potting, could you please tell me if it looks like it was re-potted properly?

Thanks

Your repot looks fine.

Sorry about the broken piece but you could possibly get another growth from the secondary eye in back of the one that broke off. Mother Nature installed a back up plan in case the first growth was damaged.

The remaining part might also continue to grow but won't bloom for you.

Thank you. I am so mad at myself for breaking it off

My experience is that a broken lead will not continue to grow. Like Brooke said, a new lead will probably grow from one of the other eyes at the base of that pseudobulb or one of the others. Your potting looks fine. Don't over water. Cattleyas like to dry out from time to time.

I am horrible about breaking off new Catt leads while repotting! I've gotten better, but it still happens
(Just letting you know it happens) - You definitely are likely to get another new lead from the growth this was broken off of - may take a little time.
