Cattleya mossiae standard pink-flowered variety
This adaptable species has a reputation for being easy to both grow and bloom. The flowers are large and very fragrant. Even though the coerulea and semi-alba varieties seem to have eclipsed the standard pink-flowered forms in popularity, I still think the classic version of this species is outstanding. But what I'm really pleased about is that the growth from last year that produced what I thought was a blind sheath decided to push a bud up through that same nearly dessicated sheath this year. So I'm glad I was too lazy to cut it off last winter.
