Anacheilium cochleatum
This is a second plant I have that is coming into bloom for the first time under my ownership. It was gifted to me by a collegue from work.
Kinda smells like sneeze though. Different from the other one I have.

Pretty one! I love octopus orchids, though I don't have one. But I've been eying one at my favorite grower, and might buy it when I go there in a few weeks.

Hi all,
Here is the one that smells good. Also in flower now.
Notice that the column is much darker, the lip has purple on the areas closest to the column with stripes further away, while the other it is the opposite.

Appearently this species (also called Prosthechea cochleata) is distributed in a wide area of Central and South America including Caribbean islands and comes in many variations, scent included. Interesting post.

This is a great plant that everybody should have!!! I'd say, hands down, the easiest and most reliable orchid one can grow! Its interesting that yours is blooming now... mine always spikes in April and blooms all summer long, until around Halloween. Great job!!!!

I've had this one bloom for me for many months without end. I think it will bloom whenever a new pseudobulb has reached maturity.
