Default Laelia milleri, intense red

Here's another Laelia milleri of my collection. Impressive red (downsizing to post took away the true beauty of the red color!). I grow another two that are this red but with the entire lip orange. I took a photo of the orange and the red together but I miss the focus, so the photo is not that good.

Here's a photo of the clone having yellow/orange lips combined with the deep red of the flower. At the upper right corner the type for comparison.

These flowers are pretty flat compared to the original flowers that usually had reflexed sepals and petals. Unfortunately these traits also were reflected in their hybrids. It appears that selective breeding has pretty much cured the problem!

Gwen, these flowers have a so deep color that knocks your socks off. In fact, I only try to give them the chance of showing themselves!
