Hello, i bought a Cattleya Pedra Da Gavea online recently and when it came i saw the bulbs had ridges on them and were thin now i looked at the roots and they are all mushy, wet (and were brown but i dont know if its normal)...all of them . the pot itself i think is too big the roots cover half the depth of it and it has drainage holes only at the bottom i dont know. do you think i should cut the roots at all? i didnt but the outer layer comes off easily...do you think i should leave the poor plant outside of the pot to dry the roots? And i'm planning to repot it in a new smaller clear pot in dry bark medium and just let the roots dry out, should i springle cinammon just in case? im worried sorry for the long post. any help is well appreciated :'(

You should contact the vendor and let them know the sorry state of the plant your received. Do ti promptly in case the plant doesn't recover!

I would trim mushy roots with sterile tools, and repot in the smallest pot possible and treat with Superthrive or seaweed extract to encourage root growth. You may also want to consider semi-hydro growing (search on this Board and you'll find lots of info)
