I didn't look up the parentage of Seagulls Tangerine on the RHS. I googled both kautskyi and neokautskyi and I found in multiple places that they are synonyms. So if they are synonyms why does it matter? You can call it neokautskyi if you want but I can also call it kautskyi. It really doesn't matter to me. Laelia kautskyana is also a synonym.

Very nice!!! I just love these rupics! I agree with Wynn, as long as its a valid synonym, who cares which one someones uses, as long as they aren't ignorant of what is currently 'accepted as correct' by taxonomosts. Hoffmannseggella briegeri, Laelia briegeri, Sophronitis briegeri, and Cattleya briegeri, all of these are past or present names for the same species, and all of them mean the same thing. It's the same thing with Kingidium minus or Phalaenopsis finleyi, both are names for the same species, and I can use both to talk about it.

This is one of the reasons I hate and avoid using scientific terms...
People arguing that they have the proper way to say stuff. Because one does not pronounce it the same way, does not use it the same way, or uses another term does not mean they are wrong or that you are right or vice versa. It just means you both know exactly what you are both talking about.
Me and Cody often talk about the same things using different terms and we understand one another perfectly because we understand the other did not learn from the same source.
And it's fine that way! Makes knowledge more interesting and it also allows many different theories to meet!
By the way, I really love that orchid!
