Not the greatest photo, but i it really shows the blue lip, which was really difficult to capture.

Very nice! my L. purpurata just bloomed for the first time monday.....purple lip though. I want a werckhauseri next. If you dont mind me asking, what is your Phd in?

Classical Archaeology, specifically on hellenic influece on central asia, more specifically, northern Afghanistan.

Those are amazing! Like they have ice in the center!

So I suppose you study Alexander the Great and his influence in the area?
I haven't got the first clue about Classical Archaeology, or any archaeology, but I always find it interesting.

Yes, actually a large part of my research was on the "non-influence" of Alexander the Great, the person. Western ancient and modern literature state him as a major influence on the region and its people during and after his death. This is not so much true however. Of course, hellenic culture that he brought with him made a tremendous influence all the way to India, but Alexander the person was not "the great" as westerners see him.
