Hey, I need to know the approximate flower size, I have one going to bloom, but it's so small, I'm wondering is it stunted due to the little light I give, can anyone give estimates of its size?

Can someone post a picture of a flowering sized plant with something reliable as a reference, like a ruler?

I will try to remember to measure mine when I close the g/h up tonight. My best guess sitting here is about 18" tall BUT it is growing in the biggest size s/h container that Ray has on his site.

Note to Idaho Orchid - I usually don't have problems typing a mere six letters but haste makes waste.

I measured my Apple Bloosom - from bottom of the big container to top of foliage is 18". Spikes are about 12" tall. Two of my three earlier spikes are still blooming and I have three new sheaths with the buds just emerging. Her total bloom time should be nine or ten months - whatta girl!

Hi Brooke,

Is it possible to get a picture? I have one that I bought as a baggy this fall it’s currently growing outside I’m wondering if it’s getting to much sun since it’s getting a reddish cast to it. I would love to see yours.

A redish caste is an indication that you are at the limits of the amount of sun for most plants including orchids. For some, such as nodosa, they need so much sun in order to bloom it is almost required that the leaves have the red tint.

Is the red just spotty or is it becoming more solid on the leaves. If it is more solid you may want to provide a bit more shading.

Steven,

Right now it’s more toward the bottom of the pseudo bulbs in spots also I think the leaves may be getting a little to lighter green. I agree with you that it could be in need of some shading. Tomorrow I will move it.
