Default Cattleya lueddemanniana

Here are the first two C. lueddemannianas to bloom this year. Easy to grow and bloom species from Venezuela that produces fragrant blooms. In spite of its reputation for requiring warm winter temperatures, this species has proven to be quite adaptable to the intermediate/cool growing conditions in my sunroom.

Very good coloring. I bet it warms up a winter day.

I really love the patterns on the lip of this species. Nice blooms Steve!

Very nice. I got one this fall, but it looks like it won't bloom. How cool does your sun room get? I put mine on a heat mat in a little 'warm enclosure' as I thought the greenhouse would be too cool for it.

C. lueddemanniana's a warm-growing species; however, I've found that the adult plants are pretty adaptable and have no problems with minimum night temperatures between 54 and 57 F (although, admittedly, they would probably do even better if I found them a spot that was closer to somewhere between 60 and 64 F).

Good to know. The greenhouse in general goes to 55 at night and 65 in the day in winter. I've used heat mats and wrapped a shelf in Mylar to create a warm space for those that need it, but it's always a crowded little area!
