Walkeriana (semi alba x Divina) Male
Default Walkeriana (semi alba x Divina)

Hello everyone,

I just got a new walkeriana (semi alba x Divina) and the flower turned out much better than I expected. The petals and sepal show very subtle flares from the tip, although the flaring is more obvious from my perspective.

I took the picture using an iphone 4, with very low light. If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can improve the image, then let me know and I'll take a better one.

One thing I noticed is that the flower has no scent at all, which was a bit disappointing.

Very pretty! My walkeriana is only fragrant in the morning and only when its getting good light in the morning. Try putting yours where it recieves some direct light in the AM and you may find it's fragrant. Also I've had orchids with no fragrance one year bloom a year later with fragrant flowers. Good luck.

@tucker85 - you were spot on about the fragrance being present only in the morning, that very interesting and shows how little I know about orchids

Tylerumn.
Nice bloom.

If you take your photo in natural light, you should get better color. I don't think your phone camera has adjustments for white balance (adjustments for different lighting), so under artificial lights, your flower is overly blue. Sometimes it might have a yellow cast (depending on type of artificial light).

You list your plant as C walkeriana semi-alba x 'Divina'. I'm curious ... does your label also give any name besides semi-alba for the first parent?

That is a wonderful flower. You also presented it correctly. Dark background and the photo is clear...the color is only slightly affected by the iPhone sharpness...otherwise you did well
