I purchased it from Kawamotoorchids on Ebay and they don't seem to have additional information on the semi-alba.

I saw your photo & plant name & I became curious. I asked you what the semi alba parent was, because there are various semi albas around, but only one ‘Divina’ There are also a number of divisions of ‘Divina’ around. So theoretically, several people could have made your cross.

Years ago, I paid a LOT for a division of C walkeriana fma flamea ‘Divina’, specifically to make one cross. I ended up making 2 crosses: C walkeriana ‘Sakura Snowball’ x ‘Divina’ & C walkeriana ‘Hawaiian Snow’ x ‘Divina’.

I was curious, but didn’t want to pry by asking who the seller was. But thank you, Isurus, for asking.

By knowing the seller, I knew where the plants came from & I now know which cross it is. You bloomed it well.

Question. Correct me if I’m wrong, in natural light, your real life flower should be pinker than your photo shows. It looks like it’s taken with artificial light, maybe at night.

That's really interesting. Did the flower of your crosses turn out similar to mine? I suspect with semi-alba x flamea crosses, one would get a mixed variety, some with dominate features of one parent, some in between, and a few unexpected ones.

Your right, I took the flower at night using my iphone. The flower appears blue in the picture rather than pinkish in reality.

Your plant is one of my seedlings. Divisions of ‘Divina’ are around, but I’ve never released divisions of ‘SS’ & ‘HS’.

What your photo & my photos don’t show is relative size. I would guess that your flower is 4” or more. ‘Sakura Snowball’ looks somewhat like ‘Hawaiian Snow’, but even better. And it is really huge … about 5”. ‘HS’ is about 4-1/2”. ‘Divina’ is a small flower, usually no more than 3”. The largest I have bloomed it is 3-1/2”.

I was trying to get a larger, little more rounded flower than 'Divina', with good flaring. I don’t know where you live, but with higher light, your flares would probably be more pronounced. So your flower, with more defined flaring was what I was hoping for. Was the flower in your photo still young. The lip should normally be opened flatter.

Overall, the cross was quite good, some like yours, but a few of the offspring really caught me by surprise ... completely different from either parent.

I measured the flower and it's 4" from right petal to left sepal and 4" from top sepal to lower lip. The picture was taken a day after the full bloom, the lower lip is flatter now.

I'm trying to obtain less common forms of walkeriana; I would appreciate any advice you would have on how to obtain backbulbs of some.
