Default Rlc. Newberry Sweetheart a bilfoliate?

Can anyone tell me if Rlc. Newberry Sweetheart is a bifoliate, please? This plant should be around 2 - 3 years from flowering and it's produced what, at the moment, looks like a sheath. I suspect, though, that it's another leaf.

I can't say for sure, but it resembles more a sheath from my angle. May have to wait on it to find out, but is it really see through, or lightly see through. A new leaf should be very opaque.
I vote sheath

That should be a sheath. A second leaf would be more nearly the same size as the first, and shaped like a folded leaf.

I thought it was a sheath too but the age of the plant is too young, supposedly. I wont complain if there's a flower though lol.

Age of plant, in my opinion, has little to do with blooming once out of a compot. If you grow it well, I think you can flower more quickly, than growing it merely "ok." Just heard of a Phal gigantea blooming at a leaf span of about 6-8 inches, which according to dogma is "too young". So, hopefully it's a sheath, and if so, you're doing something right!

LOL Thank you! I'll be checking the rest (I do it anyway) more closely. It's in a three inch pot and I have to say that the others are growing the same way too. It'll be interesting to see what others will produce early.

I forgot to say that I have another bifoliate catt that has one leaf very much smaller than the first leaf. That's why I thought it could be another leaf instead of a sheath.

I will do! VERY excited about the possibility that my young chids will 'mature' early lol.

Howdy
I have young plants too that will grow a blind sheath. they are trying, and will soon make it, but they are often too young. In other words, a sheath doesn't always mean flowers in new/young plants.

It sures seems like it is happy. Keep up the good growing, and continue in your patience.

Take care
May all your orchids bloom like crazy

Thank you, Rex! I had it in mind that it might be a blind sheath but I live in hope lol. I found another on a different catt when I was watering them today. It, too, is in a 3" pot. Even if they come to nothing the excitement is wonderful.
